Enrolment

How you join the school

Enrolment begins with a trial class. This first meeting is a chance to discover our teaching, to assess each student's level, needs and objectives, and to suggest the group and the path that fit best.

It all begins with a first time in the studio.

The four steps

  1. Step 1

    The trial class

The trial class is for children and adults alike, with no commitment. For children it is free. The student takes a real class, and the right group is worked out from the age, level, experience, needs and objectives of each one. Nobody commits at this stage.

  2. Step 2

    Regular training

From the age of six, training rests on a minimum of two classes a week. Regularity and continuity are essential to progress: they build technique, discipline and confidence. Depending on the student's age, level, objectives and commitment, the number of hours can then increase gradually. Baby Ballet follows a rhythm specifically adapted to the age of the children.

  3. Step 3

    The stage

Performances are an integral part of the training. They develop artistic expression, musicality, confidence, discipline, memory, stamina and a sense of responsibility. Students may also share the stage with invited professional ballet dancers.

  4. Step 4

    The winter and summer intensives

Ananyan Ballet organises winter and summer intensives in Monaco, open to different levels, from devoted amateurs to advanced and professional dancers. These programmes are a chance to deepen your practice and to work with internationally renowned dancers and teachers.

The practical side

What we need to know
The age of the child, what they have done before if they have done anything, and a way to reach you. That is all it takes to arrange a trial. The documents needed for enrolment are set out afterwards, once the family and the school have decided to carry on.
What to wear
There is nothing to buy for the trial. A close-fitting outfit that lets the lines show, and hair tied back, are enough. The group attire and the shoes are explained once the child is enrolled.
The hours
Groups and their hours are settled each season according to ages and numbers. They are confirmed to enrolled families. We take in new students when a group has room, and we say so when it does not.
Where the studio is
The exact address of the studio is given to you when we arrange the trial.

How the fees work

Fees are set according to the group, the student's age, level and training rhythm. Baby Ballet follows a programme specifically adapted to the youngest children. From around the age of six, training becomes more structured: students in the intermediate group generally take two classes a week, while students in the senior group take three. Classes for these groups last around 1 hour 15 minutes. Depending on the student's age, level, objectives, physical readiness and potential, a more intensive rhythm may also be proposed. Each fee therefore corresponds to the programme of study and the weekly training volume suited to the student's pathway.

Annual tuition covers the school's educational programme. Performances, competitions, intensive courses, costumes, travel and other complementary activities or projects are billed separately, unless expressly stated otherwise.

So we talk it through with you at the time of the trial, once we know which group suits your child. You leave with the full detail, and you decide calmly, at home.

Once the trial is done

If you decide to go on, enrolment happens in one go, online. The dossier brings together the student details, the school rules and the image permission, and you receive your own complete copy straight away.

Online enrolment opens with the school in Monaco. Until then, classes continue as they do today. We send you the dossier after the trial class, with the fees that apply to you.

The questions parents ask

These are the ones that come up most often. If yours is not here, write to us, we answer everyone.

How do you decide which group suits each student?

The trial class lets us meet each student and assess their age, level, experience, abilities and objectives. We can then suggest the group and the pathway that fit them best. Our teaching is demanding, but our approach remains deeply individual: we seek to help each student progress from their own potential.

Is my child too young?

Baby Ballet welcomes children from the age of three, with teaching specifically adapted to their development. At that age it is not about forcing technique, but about awakening musicality, coordination, posture, listening and body awareness, while gradually discovering the world of classical ballet.

Is my child too old to start?

It is never too late to discover ballet. A student who starts later simply follows a pathway adapted to their age, abilities and objectives. With structured teaching, regularity and commitment, progress can be considerable.

They have never danced. Is that a problem?

Not at all. No previous experience is needed to begin. The trial class lets us observe the student's starting level and guide them towards the appropriate group. What matters afterwards is regularity, attention, commitment and the desire to progress.

Are boys welcome?

Absolutely. Boys have their full place in classical training. Their work evolves gradually with age and level, developing in particular coordination, musicality, strength, elevation and stage presence. We would like to encourage more boys to discover classical ballet.

What should they wear for the first class?

For the trial class, a comfortable, close-fitting outfit is enough, with hair tied back. If you do not yet own demi-pointe shoes, socks are fine for the first class. There is no need to buy specific attire before the trial. Once the group is confirmed, we will let you know the attire for the student's level.

It is ordered online from our partner Dansea.

How does the trial class work?

After your request, we suggest a class in the group that seems best suited to the student's age and level. The student takes part in the class with the group. After the trial, we talk with you to advise you on the most appropriate group, training rhythm and pathway.

What about adults?

Classical ballet can be practised and discovered at any age. Our adult classes are for beginners as well as for those who wish to return to ballet after several years. The work develops posture, coordination, mobility, strength, musicality and body awareness, with respect for each person's level. Adults who wish to may also take part in the school's stage projects.
